We get Email from riders all over the globe, all united by an appreciation for Vicenza's cycling products.  We're starting a photo gallery of our friends--if you would like to be added, please Email us a photo of you and your bike(s), along with a brief description of where you live and ride.

gary_friend.jpg (89141 bytes) Reader Frank sends these photos from the recent Enchanted Circle Century in New Mexico.  He reports:

Eric,
I saw your photo on the "Climb to Kaiser" and it reminded me of the Enchanted Circle Century I just completed on 10 September (crosses Bobcat Pass 9820 ft).  Maybe the same guys took the photos.  Anyway, I'm the wheelsucker in the 1999 Lance "Wannabe" in full Trekkie attire (But no ShimaNO...all Campy Record except the front wheel...Rolf Vector Pro...My front Nucleon tubular was having a rest day). The guy in front is the Governor of New Mexico Gary Johnson (He's 48 (I'm 50), Gary was first place NM finsher in the Ironman Triathlon).  (I dropped him on some early climbs but he caught and dropped me after 85 miles to finish in 5:15 while I was in at 5:37)
Ciao, Frank

Campy Only notes that Gov. Johnson is riding a ShimaNO-equipped bike (apparently a Kestrel).  Not surprising, given is history as a triathlete, but perhaps we can encourage him to try out some real Italian equipment next time?  Click on the Gov's name above to send him some friendly Campy Email . . .

Reader Carlo Valsecchi

alex2.jpg (144486 bytes)
Future reader, young Alessandro Valsecchi.  Don't worry, the jersey will fit someday!

Longtime reader and contributor webmaster@campyonly.com recently sent us these photos from a ride to the Campagnolo factory in Vicenza.  (Carlo has also sent us a series of photos of factory; he works in Vicenza, and gets to see it every day.)  Carlo is every bit the handsome Italian man--but sorry, female Campy fans.  He's married, and he and his wife greeted the arrival of their first child this summer.

Carlo has sent along a photo of his new son (see the photo at left).  Can we guess that he'll be riding a Campy-equipped tricycle before too long?

By the way, Carlo is wearing the jersey of the California-based , which can now claim world fame.

dl_at_campy.jpg (148119 bytes) Reader webmaster@campyonly.com had a chance to visit the factory in 1999, and has this photo to prove it.  He writes,

"Attached is a picture taken of me last summer. A great guy named Francesco (spoke excellent English) gave us (my fiancée and future mother in law and myself) a fantastic tour of the factory. Also gave some stickers and a poster. I heard angels singing when walking in the doors."

"Hello there, I thought I'd contribute.

I am one of  the approximatly 30 members of Bærum og Omegn Cyckleklubb (BOC), Norway, who target winning the team time trial competition in the 540km Trondheim-Oslo (aka. The Great Trial of Strength) bike race which has been run on mid summer weekend for the last 3 decades. I believe this race is the longest single stage race in the world today.  For information on this great race read http://www.styrkeproven.com/ . How it can be like riding it can be read at http://www.novit.no/dahls/Cycling/Tours/gtos_info.html .

My ride is a '96 Bianchi Ti Megatube with the Record Ti gruppo of that year. I could afford it then, but not anymore! It is of course 8-speed. For these ultra long distance TTT's a 12-21 is actually a bit short so 9 or 10 speeds is on my wishlist to get the 11 which is needed in the 80km/h downhill pacelines. I am not upgrading this year, but am waiting and seeing how 10 speeds are holding up.

The picture which was taken on a rollercoaster race course in southwest Norway in September '98 shows my climbing/rough stuff  wheelset which has a Record Ti rear hub and a '98 Record (Ti) front hub.  For the TTT's I use '95 Shamals.  I race exclusively on tubulars.

Regards, Kjetil Haaland,
Oslo, Norway"

Dr. Colin Dibble sent us these photos from Glendale, Zimbabwe, on the African continent.  Collin runs a small hospital there, but when he's not working he can be found on the local roads riding his beautiful blue DeRosa, equipped with an Athena gruppo and the Racing Triple setup--even a Campagnolo Biodynamica water bottle.

tandem1999.jpg (53419 bytes) Longtime Campy Only friend Henrik, who lives and rides in Denmark, sent us a photo of himself with his tandem Stoker, Erik.  Henrik writes about the bicycle:

"Not many people own a Campagnolo equipped tandem, but my old friend Erik (stoker) and I do have one.

It is not a full gruppo, but different parts put together:
bulletThe pedal arms = Record C/Centaur.
bulletDerailleur = Chorus.
bulletShifters are the indexed ones you use for time trials in bar ends. (Note: They are located in the stokers handlebar)
bulletCantilever brakes = Centaur
bulletlevers = Chorus.
bulletHeadset = Contax.
bulletStem and bars = Cinelli.
bulletHubs + drum brake = Phil Wood
bulletBell= Ching Chang
The frame is a Danish hand built, with Reynolds 531C tubes."

egrunt.jpg (151527 bytes) Eric Ragot sent this photo and the following info:

"This picture is from the Long Island SuperCup race in October 1999. I used my road bike with Mirage brake and cranks, chorus levers, veloce derailleurs. The equipment is Campy, the placing wasn't as good as could be, but 41st in my third cyclocross race wasn't so bad considering the competition. It was the Elite Men's race with Pontoni, McCormack, Bowen, etc..."
