Leaving Napa Saturday
morning, the weather was overcast and cool |
Carneros vineyards |
On the way to
Guerneville. It was a little after this that Peter discovered
that both his tires needed replacing. We weren't carrying spares
(big mistake) |
Crossing the Russian
River |
|
Peter also flatted. |
Just when all seemed lost
(closest bike shop was 20+ miles away), we met Chris and Summer
on their tandem. |
We followed Chris to his
house near Occidental. His entire living room is a bike shop! |
Putting Peter's bike on
the stand. He put two new tires on--and I picked up a spare |
In Chris' living room. |
After our long delay
fixing Peter's tire issues, we ate lunch in Occidental. |
This was the view from
our lunch stop. |
On our way back to Jenner |
Entering Jenner--almost
at the coast! |
|
"Bro to All" |
We didn't climb the road
that snakes up the hill in the background |
Heading up the coast.
Riding north, we battled headwinds for more than 80 miles. |

The chapel features very
unique architecture |

At a drink stop in
Gualala, we met ... Benjamin Franklin! |

We decided we couldn't
make it to Cloverdale Saturday, so we found a place to stay in
an empty building in Boonville |
We found these wooden
pallets, which kept us off the cold concrete floor. Some plastic
sheeting served as blankets. |
My "bed."
We slept for five hours, then got back on the bikes for
breakfast, espresso, and more riding |
Waking up Sunday morning. |
Espresso! Only $1.25 for
a double shot! |
Fairgrounds in Boonville |
Riding through Boonville,
which was very quiet on Sunday morning. |
Anderson Valley scenery |
Peter's tire problems
continued--he picked up this tack on the way to Cloverdale. |
After Cloverdale, and
Peter fixes yet another flat. |
Nice restroom facilities
in Jimtown |

We caught our reflection
in this old hubcap |
Back in Napa County! |
