webmaster@campyonly.com sends these photos of his 1983 Colnago . . .

I purchased this frame in 1982 or 3.  It was then black with yellow lettering.  I think it's considered a "Mexico" frame.  It has the hour record decal from when Eddy Merckx set the record in Mexico City.  I transferred Campy NR components from a 1976 Legnano (my first serious road bike).

I rode fairly seriously on Okinawa (USMC) in 1984, then the bike was hanging in the garage four about 15 years.  I took it down last August and rebuilt it.  I rode it while bringing my weight down from 225 to 175.  I then treated myself to a new Colnago Master (If you get 2001 color D14N, it's Master, not Master X Light).

After I got my new bike, I sent my 83 Super off to Ronny at Airglow Painting ( airglow : summer 2001 ) for the paint job you see in the pictures.  I had an accident with my old bike that bent my fork back.  It was unfixable so I had to put on a Performance Forte Classic carbon fork.  I also replaced the original 52 Campy Chainring with a 52 Sugino.  It still rides better than any bike I've ever owned or ridden.  And it still draws positive comments wherever I ride it.
