Michael Scott doesn't find much time to
ride this 1987 DeRosa, but he appreciates the beauty of the Campagnolo
components . . .
"I haven't been into road bikes for some years but I found this bike last summer and thought it might be fun to ride for a change (I've been into mt. biking for the last several years now). It was kind of a throw back to the bikes I used to ride when I was a kid. As you can see it is pretty much still the same as when it was first built in 1987. I bought it from the original owner who told me that he only put about 300 miles on it before starting a family and hanging it up. I had to believe him since there wasn't even a rock chip on the down tube. Yeah I know those MTB pedals are all wrong but they fit my shoes you know. I also put a more modern/comfortable saddle on it. The wheelset is made up of super record hubs with Mavic G-40 36 hole hoops with double butted spokes. Most of the bike is super record, the exceptions that I know of are the shifters, the headset, and the brake levers. The shifters are the type that can change between friction and index (what's the story behind that?) and the headset I'm not sure about. As you can probably tell I'm not really up to speed on Campy so I only really know what I've been told by others, which has at times been conflicting. I do know that where I now live is not a real friendly place for road bikes and I have found that my heart really belongs to mt. biking, so this bike could be for sale for a reasonable offer."
