Reader Mark Castrodale sent in these
photos of his classic Pinarello. He writes,
"This was my dream bike when I was a kid, but I quit cycling in my late teens. When I started riding again a couple years ago I found everything had changed, and all the parts from my old bike were considered "retro". I set about putting together a full Super Record gruppo and bought this Pinarello SL frame from the mid 80's, which has been repainted by Cycle Art. The brakes are Cobalto, the rims Record Crono, and the chain a Regina SL with hollow pins. I've never even ridden a new fangled bike with carbon fiber bits and almost twice as many gears as mine, but I find it hard to imagine a bike more enjoyable to ride than this old-fashioned bike that I hope to keep running, well, forever, if possible. Someday I may get a titanium frame with 10 speed ergo, but by then it will probably be retro too! I sent 5 pictures, use whichever you think are best.
